We have begun to look at what might be worth considering. From informal discussions with Western Power it seems that the main power network from Hinckley to Avonmouth will not pass close to our
area and they have advised that costs to connect to it will therefore be substantial even if we do have
large projects.
North Somerset Council has also informally advised that the prospect of wind power in our area, including in coastal regions has not been deemed suitable for a major site as part of the wider review by energy providers and coastal regions in the South West.
As far as solar power is concerned our exploratory investigation implies that this would flounder without a grid connection or unless it could be sited close to an existing housing or industrial site where any generated power could be stored and distributed to them directly. We are hoping that there may be some knowledgeable and enthusiastic members who would be willing to assist us develop these ideas, as well as possible sites so that we have a firmer base of knowledge on which to make any decisions!
